Have you ever wanted to put a special character in a file of e-mail that wasn't available on your keyboard? If you have but didn't know where to find these characters, there is an easy way to do it!

Every Windows Operating System includes what is called the character map. It is a utility that let's you view, select, then copy and paste characters from it into almost any application. Here is how you use it.

  1. Click Start, Programs, Accessories, then System Tools. Find the Character Map and click it.
  2. When it opens you will see a list of characters you can choose from.
  3. You can also select the font from a drop-down list of the characters you select.
  4. With your mouse, high light a character you want, then hit the 'select' button and the character appears in the 'characters to copy' window.
  5. Click the 'copy' button.
  6. Now all you have to do is paste this character into any application you want.

Note: You can select as many characters as you like and then copy and paste them in one move.
